ICAN of the Wiregrass, the local chapter of the International Cesarean Awareness Network, announces its first annual Mom Prom of the Wiregrass, to be held April 26, 2014, 7pm to 11pm @ the FireStone Wood Fired Pizza and Grill

Dubbed the “ultimate ladies’ night out” this unique event is not only for moms, but for ladies of all ages 21 and up.  Chapter leader, Amanda Martin says the theme this year is “Keep Calm and Go to Mom Prom” and attendees are urged to wear vintage prom dresses or old bridesmaid dresses even, to compete for “tackiest” dress, or use it as an excuse to buy a new dress.  “It’s for ladies’ only, so that we can promote sisterhood and ‘mothers supporting mothers’, which is the focus of ICAN.  And we’re going to have a lot of fun while we’re at it!”

There will be an array of delicious foods, beverages and desserts served by FireStone, all included in the ticket price, as well as one special Mom Prom cocktail per ticket.  There will also be a cash bar.  Door prizes are being donated by local businesses, and at the end one lucky lady will be crowned Prom Queen 2014.  And of course, there will be dancing!

Tickets, which go on sale tomorrow March 1, are $30 pre-sale, $40 at the door, and may be purchased through the website at   or through local sponsoring businesses.  You can also find Mom Prom of the Wiregrass on Facebook, or call 334-464-2162 for more information.

All profits go to ICAN (85% stays with our local chapter), which is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health by supporting moms who are recovering from cesareans, preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, and promoting vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC).  For more about ICAN go to
