Brian Ashley Brackin passed away in Birmingham, Alabama at UAB on Sunday, February 10, 2013, at the age of 56.



Brian is predeceased by his parents, Bert and Polly Wilson Brackin. Brian is survived by two daughters, Ashley Brackin of Saint Augustine, Florida and Jennifer Brackin of Dothan, Alabama, one grandson, Jalen Brackin-Givens, of Dothan, Alabama. He is also survived by two aunts, a host of cousins, and also devoted friends, Lisa Kelly and Joe Phillips of Dothan, Alabama.



Brian was born in Dothan, Alabama on February 5, 1957 . He is a 1975 graduate from Dothan High School. He was a retired Sergeant with the Dothan Police Department and was currently employed with Azars Uniforms. Brian was an avid golfer and a motorcycle enthusiast and served as president of the Blue Knights V motorcycle club. Brian, having a compassion for children, served for many years as a board member for the Child Advocacy Center. Brian was a lifetime member of the Southeast Alabama Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 27.



Funeral services will be held 2 pm Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Cloverdale Baptist Church with Rev. Aaron Dickinson officiating. Interment with honors to follow at Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, 1700 Barrington Road, Midland City, Alabama, Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Child Advocacy Center, 110 Harmony Lane, Dothan, Alabama.



Brian will be sadly missed by all who knew him. "If I could reach up and hold a star for every time you’ve made me smile, the entire evening sky would be in the palm of my hand." Unknown.
