Dementia is reaching a crisis state in this country, and going forward, caring for this sector of the population is only going to become more urgent. In an effort to better support the needs of the community, Gentiva is bringing a new concept.

The Virtual Dementia Tour is an experience created for anyone seeking to understand the physical and mental challenges of those suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia. In short, it is a tool that gives you a form of dementia, and allows you to experience what it is like to be suffering from dementia. It is designed to let you feel and understand what your loved one might be feeling like at any point in time.

As such, it is designed to help you improve communication by giving you the experience of dementia the Virtual Dementia Tour is a scientifically proven method of building a greater understanding of dementia through the use of patented sensory tools and Instruction.

This method was created by award-winning, geriatric specialist and Founder of Second Wind Dreams, P.K. Beville M.S. The tour builds sensitivity and awareness in individuals caring for those with dementia by temporarily altering participants’ physical and sensory abilities with props and circumstances to simulate changes associated with physical as well as cognitive impairments of aging.
