DOTHAN— Governor Robert Bentley on Monday will hold a news conference in Dothan to discuss Legislative Budget cuts to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The Alabama Legislature is considering a proposal which cuts funding for state agencies and does not include any additional revenue. Each state agency was created by law to provide specific services to taxpayers. The budget currently being considered by the Legislature will put the state in a position incapable of providing many of the essential services of government.
In February, Governor Bentley presented his budget solution with additional revenue for the General Fund that would avoid the devastating cuts. Governor Bentley’s budget solution includes additional revenue in the form of fair taxes and will cover the revenue shortfall in the General Fund and pay off millions of dollars in debt the state owes.
ALEA Secretary Spencer Collier will join the Governor. The news conference is scheduled to begin at 2:45 p.m.
