Graceville man arrested for possession of Methamphetamine following a traffic stop

On June 13, 2014, Roy Thomas Jr., W/M, 57 years of age was arrested by Chipley Police following a traffic
stop. Officers conducted a traffic stop of a Buick car following a traffic violation. During the course of the
traffic stop Officers discovered that the vehicle had never been registered and the tag attached had been
expired since 2011. Officers further determined that Thomas’ driver license was suspended to which
Thomas acknowledged he was aware of. While speaking with Thomas, Officers noted that he was
exhibiting behavior consistent with someone under the influence of methamphetamines. Officers placed
Thomas under arrest and began searching his person prior to placing him into the patrol vehicle. During this
search Officers found a container which held an amount of methamphetamine.
Roy Thomas Jr. was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail where he was
booked on the charges of Possession of a Methamphetamine, Failing to register a motor vehicle, driving
while license suspended or revoked, and display of driver’s license known to be suspended or revoked.
Chief Kevin Crews stated, “We continue to fight the drug problem in our community. The Chipley Police
Department will aggressively confront users and dealers of illegal narcotics to deter this activity. I strongly
