On October 12, 2016 the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a burglary and theft of a four-wheeler in progress in Grand Ridge, Florida. The victim in the case reported seeing the suspect, who was identified as Steven Russell, stealing his four-wheeler, pushing it out of his shed to a neighbor’s yard. The victim went outside and yelled at Steven Russell. Russell then abandoned the four wheeler and took off on foot.

Deputies searched the area for Russell but were unable to locate him. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Department obtained Arrest warrants for Steven Russell for Grand Theft and Burglary. The Sheriff’s Office has been following up on leads to Steven Russell’s whereabouts since that time. On October 17th officials received information that Russell was hiding out at a residence in Youngstown.

Bay County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area and spotted Russell, but he evaded capture by fleeing on foot into a wooded area. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office along with the assistance of Apalachee Correctional Institution K-9 and Jackson Correction Institution K-9 teams surrounded the residence where Steven Russell was located.
