GREAT LEADERSHIP IS IN THE PERSON NOT THE TITLE

Being at the ripe old age of 58 I have had the privilege of knowing many of our city leaders through the years. There is no doubt our city has had some very good leaders in the past and we definitely have some very good leaders on our commission now. But right now I want to comment on the Mayor of our fine city, Mayor Mike Schmitz.
I got to know the Mayor when I began the Angel Of Hope Statue For Dothan. I called him one morning this past July and told him that I wanted to do something to remember all the children who are no longer with us. His reply was " I will be honored to do what I can to help!" From that moment on I began to know the Person that Mike Schmitz is not just the Leader.
Since that phone call in July of 2016 I quickly realized that Mike Schmitz has a heart of gold and that he is a very generous, a very caring and a very humble man. When I talk to him I can see his passion for helping others and especially his love for children and our community.
" The Quality Of A Leader Is Reflected In The Standards That They Set For Themselves." I believe Mike Schmitz follows that advice in his roles as a great dad, a great husband, a great businessman and as a Great Mayor.
I was asked the other day how I measure success..my reply was ...I measure my success by being able to look at myself in the mirror at the end of each day and say to myself..That I Did The Very Best That I Could. I have no doubt that at the end of each day our Mayor can say ....That He Did The Very Best That He Could!!!
Thank you Mike Schmitz for being the Great Person that you are which makes you a Great Leader.
