Greene County Sheriff Ison Thomas says that if John Tyson and the Anti-Gambling Task Force try to raid Greenetrack he will stop the raid.
Thomas wrote a letter to Attorney General Troy King and stated that our machines have been tested and have been found to be legal.
"In my position as sheriff, I am charged with the responsibilities of protecting the citizens of my county and carrying out the laws of the state of Alabama," Thomas wrote. "No one is above the law including the task force. And should they come to Greene County, I cannot allow them to raid legal businesses."
Around the same time that Sheriff Thomas was writing the Letter to Troy King, the Govorner was in Birmingham giving a speech. Riley was asked what he felt about Greenetrack being the only large Bingo hall still open for business.
"Given the situation as I see it today, and what I think the ultimate outcome is going to be, if I were them I would (close)," Riley said. At the time of the interview, Riley did not know of Thomas' warning.
