ASPEN COLORADO - HENRY COUNTY AL: While he is handicapped from a motorcycle accident several years ago, he is the most non handicapped person I have ever known.
Moments ago I received a text message from my friend Anthony Radietic. Anthony and Danielle with their two children lives at Thomas Mill Creek in Henry County at the lake. Anthony has been training in Aspen Colorado since November. Today he just nailed a flip while snow skiing and text messaged me photos.
Anthony was involved in a motorcycle accident some 6 or more years ago in Ozark Alabama. From the motorcycle accident he is paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair. He and Danielle lives at the lake near Thomas Mill Creek.
When he built his house Anthony installed his own water lines with a walk behind trencher. He is able to jump by using his upper body while holding onto things. He is able to throw his legs forward while holding onto something to walk. While he uses his wheelchair most of the time he will hold onto your shoulder to love along for a short distance.
After Anthony’s wreck he drove a 5 speed Mazda truck. He would use his hands to push his leg down on the clutch. Once moving he would slow the truck below a certain RPM and then shift gears.
Even building his house, which Anthony did a lot of the work on, he built a two story home.
Anthony rides wave runners at the lake. He will put the wave runners in and load them often times by himself.
Anthony is involved in the wounded warriors. He has participated in events nationwide to include bicycle races where he peddles with his hands. He has been training in snow skiing. Exactly how he does it I am not sure by he has landed a flip.
When around Anthony you do not see someone handicapped. That is why I say is the most handicapped - non handicapped person you will ever meet.
He even rides his motorcycle on back roads. He has a buddy that rides with him and will stop just ahead of Anthony and grab him s they stop at the stop signs. This has worked great for him until one day the motorcycle choked off on him. There was nothing to do but fall.
Congratulations to Anthony on a great achievement on his success in snow skiing.
