Dear Chamber member,

Election Day is tomorrow, Tuesday, November 4th. I know you’ve heard a lot aboutthis race, but I wanted to make sure that for those of you who don’t know me, you’re hearing the truth about me, my record, and my appreciation for the Houston County business community.

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and I have dedicated my career to helping foster an environment in Alabama that allows us to attract industry, and support small business growth. This is why the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), Alabama’s leading small business advocacy group, has endorsed me in this race following my “100% voting record on small business issues.” Mike Hubbard, Bob Riley and Melinda McClendon would like for you to think differently. They’ve spent over $160,000 to try and convince you I’m bad for business in the Wiregrass. The truth is, I helped lead the fight against former Governor Riley’s billion dollar tax hike, and have continued to work for lower takes in Alabama while protecting the people’s right to vote on matters that affect them.

A dear friend of mine, and respected member of the Houston County business community once told me, the three things you need to remember in order to run a successful business are: The customer is always right; Work harder than the other guy; Communication is key – you must stand on your principles and let the world know why your product is superior to all the others out there.

This stuck with me, because I feel that in order to be an effective state senator, you must follow the same tenants: Always put the people first; Be responsive to theirneeds while providing support to the business community so that they may create jobs and economic opportunities; and Make sure the people who elected you to office are aware of the good work you’re doing on their behalf. I appreciate what you do for our community, and I want you to know that as your senator I will continue working with you as a tireless advocate for economic growth in the Wiregrass. I hope to count on your vote Tuesday. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call and speak with me directly (334) 699-3357.

Sincerely,

Harri Anne Smith
