GENEVA COUNTY: Geneva County District Attorney Kirke Adams says a Hartford man was sentenced this morning to 30-years on attempted murder charges.
52-year-old Tony Williams of Hartford was arrested on domestic violence charges after an assault that left a woman hospitalized with life-threatening injuries in January of 2014. Slocomb police, who were in charge of the case, later upgraded the charge to attempted murder.
Williams pleaded guilty to his charges in October. After hearing testimony this morning from law enforcement, the victim and a doctor, Judge Kenneth Quattlebaum sentence Williams to 30 years in prison.
Police at the time of the crime said that Williams used a hatchet on the victim that caused injuries to her head and chest. A child was home when the crime took place.
