The 8th annual Tri-State BBQ Festival is giving students aged 8-18 an opportunity to participate in the cooking competition called KIDS COOK sponsored by Tyndall Federal Credit Union. There are two age groups- "junior" which is aged 8-12 and "senior" which is aged 13-18. There will be a $100 first prize and a $50 second prize in each division.
Students who register to compete will receive admission to the festival, as well as admission for one parent, an apron, one pound of ground beef, buns and a container in which to turn in their grilled product to the judged. (The tickets and cooking items have a combined value of approximately $25). Entry fee per child is just $10, making this an incredible value for any family, because the student and his/ her family will also be able to eat any extra burgers made and not turned in!
Right now, there aren’t that many students who have taken advantage of this opportunity -- you can see the competitors we have currently at http://tristatebbq.com/competition/kids-cook/
Entry forms online or in The BBQ Rag newspaper, found wherever you see American Classifieds news racks. Entry deadline was supposed to be tomorrow, but we have extended it until April 5th hoping to have at least as many competitors as we have trophies to give away in each age group (giving trophies for 1-5th place).
