HENRY COUNTY: The search that has been conducted over the past several days in Henry County for a missing aircraft is winding down for the day.
For the most part of the week Henry County Sheriff Deputies and Henry County Emergency Management, along with multiple other agencies and volunteers have searched land and water for the aircraft.
The pilots from Dothan and New Brockton have flown from Headland to Abbeville many times. They were experienced.
The search has involved Dale County Sheriff helicopter. It has involved the multiple Henry County Volunteer Fire agencies to include but not limited to Screamer and Shorterville. The search has involved members of Houston County Rescue and Regional Land and Water Rescue. The search has involved former Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes who now serves as Assistant Director to Alabama Homeland Security.
NOTE to land owners, tree farmers and loggers, you are familiar with the woods. Please search your wooded areas from Headland to Eufaula, both Alabama and Georgia sides. The plane could have gone down in a wooded area that is secluded. As farmers and loggers, you are the experienced ones and know your area. As you work and travel to and from, please look. The plane could have hit an area which can not been noticed from the air searches.
If anything is found call 334-585-3131 for Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox or Henry County Emergency Management Director Ronnie Dollar.
THANKS to all agencies and volunteers who have spent their time and resources in looking for the missing pilots. On behalf of the government leaders, more important on behalf of the family...THANK YOU for your taking your time and efforts to assist.
