DALE COUNTY: In a special called Dale County Commission Meeting this afternoon, well it was interesting.
Last week Dale County Commission Chairman Mark Blakenship made a presentation concerning the Solid Waste Authority. Blakenship maintained while the Solid Waste Authority was a viable option in 1992 when it was formed, it is no longer a viable need.
Chairman Blakenship believed contracting the services would generate around$ 100,000.00 into the local economy.
At the meeting last week former Daleville Mayor Wes Etheridge and former Ozark Mayor Billy Blackwell were present. Both Etheridge and Blackwell accused Blakenship of misinformation and this his figures were wrong. In essence, Etheridge called Chairman Blakenship a liar.
Today Dale County Chairman Mark Blakenship drew a major line in the sand with Etheridge. Blakenship handed out the figures and said Etheridge called him a liar in public, the figures are here, and called Wes Etheridge out to prove Blakenship wrong.
Chairman Blackenship also questioned former Ozark Mayor Billy Blackwell being on the Board of Directors of a bank which received a loan of over $ 500,000.00.
Chairman Blakenship said that loan was not bid out and he believes is a possible ethics violation.
THERE IT IS FOLKS
Move 1: Dale County Commission Chairman Mark Blakenship presented what he understands are the facts and figures of the Solid Waste Authority and that it is not a good deal for the citizens of Dale County.
Move 2: Former ( has been ) Daleville Mayor Wes Etheridge and Former ( has been ) Ozark Mayor Billy Blackwell challenged Dale County Commission Chairman Mark Blakenship on his information and that it was not accurate.
Move 3: Dale County Commission Chairman Mark Blakenship has issued the challenge to Etheridge and Blackwell, prove me wrong.
Next move....Etheridge and Blackwell, silence means Bolakenship trumps. So you better be getting it together.
NO MATTER YOUR POSITION
No matter the position, I applaud Dale County Commission Chairman Mark Blakenship for standing by his convictions. That he states he has reviewed and studied the information and man enough to lay it out there for all to see. Then when questioned, man enough to say, if I am wrong, PROVE IT.
