Hit and Run Claimed the Life of a Union Springs Man

OPELIKA POST – A crash Wednesday, Sept. 10, claimed the life of a Union Springs man. John Jenkins, 62, was killed when the Suzuki Burgman 6 motorcycle he was operating struck a pedestrian and crashed. Shortly after, a passing vehicle struck Jenkins. The vehicle left the scene and has not been located at this time. The pedestrian was transported to Baptist South with non-life threatening injuries. The crash occurred at 8:35 p.m. on Alabama 223 near the 24 mile marker, four miles south of Union Springs. Nothing further is available at this time as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
