On Saturday July 4th 2015 at approximately 12:00am, officers with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Fleetwood Lane in reference to a home invasion. The victim, Mike Murphy, was asleep when two male subjects forcefully entered his residence demanding money. During the incident, Murphy was struck in the back of the head with a blunt object, had his fingers stomped and his hands zip tied together. The subjects were unable to get any money from Murphy or the residence and left on foot a short time later.
Murphy was transported to Jackson Hospital to receive medical treatment. During the investigation K-9 tracking teams from ACI and JCI were notified to respond. A track was established leading away from the residence in a southerly direction and continued to a point where it is believed the subjects were able to enter a vehicle and leave the area. During a neighborhood canvas, Officers were able to develop a description of two black males, one with an afro and the other with short dread-locks possibly driving a newer model gold Toyota Camry. At this time these subjects are persons of interest. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Victim: Mike Murphy, 63y/o
Fleetwood Lane
Marianna Florida.
