Home Owners in the Highlands are Not Happy

Dothan- Accoding to WTVY's Ken Curtis- Homeowners in the Highlands are poised to pay over a million dollars for property they really don’t want. They just don’t somebody else to have the 12 acres.
Members of the homeowner’s association are in the process of voting on whether to borrow the money and repay it with increased dues over the next ten years. Projections are it will cost each of the more than 400 homeowners between $3,000 and $4,000.
At issue is a tract of land that runs between U.S. Highway 84 on the north side of the affluent subdivision. It is owned by Hugh Wheelless whose family, decades ago, donated the land for the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail that is part of the Highlands. Wheelless sold surrounding property that once was a private airport to construct high end homes.
