DOTHAN:    This morning Houston County Road and Bridge was on the private property of Glasstream Boats doing work with heavy equipment. This property is on Oxmoor Industrial Road off Horace Shephard Road and Napier Field Road.

It was announced on April 3, 2014 the Florida company to build boats in Dothan. The Dothan Commission appropriated $ 1.55 million toward the project and the Houston County Commission appropriated $ 250,000.00 and agreed to do site preparation for the project. The work was to go toward the purchase of a speculative building on Oxmoor Industrial Road.

When the company was announced on April 3, 2014, the industry was expected to generate about 100 jobs initially and expand to 175 jobs when the plant is in full production.

In a March 15, 2016 announcement, Glasstream Powerboats launched a new vessel that could add jobs at the Dothan facility. At the time of the March 2016 announcement Glasstream announced they had about 50 employees in the Dothan facility.

A couple Houston County Commissioners were contacted today about the county equipment on private property. The two commissioners said they knew nothing about it.

Other private Dothan and Houston County businesses have contacted us asking how they can get Houston County to do work on their private property. These Dothan and Houston County businesses provide jobs and economic impact to this area. So far the only thing they get is a hard time from Dothan and Houston County.

So Houston County Commissioners, how can Dothan and Houston County businesses get the county to do work on their private property.

NUW GRAPHICS

We are exploring things. But Amy Kirkland is listed in a March 15, 2016 news article as "Director of Operations" for the Dothan facility.

We have been alerted and exploring that Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver is in a business with Amy Kirkland or purchased a business from Amy Kirkland.

The registered corporation, 3MZ, LLC was formed August 5, 2014 according to the Alabama Secretary of State Office. At one time "a" Amy Kirkland was the registered agent of the corporation.

The corporate papers that were sent to me are not clear if Kirkland and Culver are still in business together. The business is a screen printing business called NUW Graphics.

But as we understand the business NUW Graphics, Glassstream, Chairman Mark Culver and Glassstream's founder, A.L. Kirkland's daughter Amy are someway tied or were tied in business together.

This issue is being explored.
