Houston County Commissioners Apathy May Cost Lives Or Make Someone Homeless

HOUSTON COUNTY: With the exception of Houston County Commissioner Brandon Shoupe, members of the Houston County Commissioner’s apathy and lack of concern have once again placed the citizens of this county in danger.

This morning, at 8:28 AM, Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched a fire alarm to 1865 South Brannon Stand, Anderson Flooring. A phone in alarm in the hall, smoke detector.

Houston County Sheriff 911 protocol, the 911 center paged Taylor Volunteer Fire Department. No response. Taylor was paged several times.

Houston County Sheriff 911 then paged Bay Springs Volunteer Fire Department. No response.

Houston County Sheriff 911 then paged Rehobeth Volunteer Fire Department. No Response.

Houston County Sheriff 911 then paged Southern Junction Fire Department. Because of the distance, Southern Junction asked Houston County Sheriff 911 to mutual aid request Dothan Fire Department on Highway 84 West at the Highlands to respond and they did.

VOLUNTEERS

Houston County has a great group of volunteer men and women who donate their own time, resources and money to help people across this county. They leave their families and jobs to help those in need every day.

But they have to make a living. Jobs are scarce and people are not able to leave their jobs as they once did to respond to the emergencies.

That is what makes daytime response difficult.

CHAIRMAN MARK CULVER, COMMISSIONERS CURTIS HARVEY, DOUG SINQUFIUELD, JACKIE BATTLES AND FORMER MELINDA McCLENDON

Each one of the Houston County Commissioners have been placed on notice this is a problem. I personally told them when they were going to hire the Emergency Management Director, the greatest challenge was going to be Fire and Rescue in Houston County.

McClendon let me know real quick she knew what she was doing, had a vast amount of experience in hiring. Basically, I was a dumb ass and but out.

Chairman Culver, Commissioners Harvey, Sinquefield and Battles, well they have done absolutely nothing to work to resolve this issue.

While today’s call was not an actual fire, what if it had been?

When someone’s house burns, or someone dies because of emergency medical care in Houston County, the family that is homeless or the blood will be on the hands of the Commissioners.

Their apathy or just don’t give a rats butt, can cost lives. And the responsibility is on their shoulders.

Commissioner Shoupe has a pass for a few months until he gets his feet wet. Then he wil bear responsibility.

Chairman Culver makes just under $ 80,000.00 per year and each commissioner makes $ 33,000.00 plus per year.

They are charged with resolving the problem.

IN CONCLUSION

I realize I am just a dumb ass bondsman. But I would literally be ashamed of myself with the lazy sorry attitude taken by the elected so called leaders and not resolving the issues.

As a dumb ass bondsman I could resolve them. You know why? Because I care! But when someone cares, the elected so called leaders shun you off.

It is more important for someone to get their time in to retire again then to solve the problem.
