Houston County ranks third in nation for number of bankruptcies filed

According to an article in the Dothan Eagle......Six of 10 southern states rank high in the numbers of personal bankruptcy filings in America, with Houston County ranking third in the nation among counties with the highest rates, according to a recent study.


The personal finance website NerdWallet reported 969 individuals filed for bankruptcy in Houston County from April 2015-March 2016, placing the county just behind Shelby County, Tennessee, with 1,285.83 personal bankruptcy filings per 100,000 people and Clayton County, Georgia, with 1,096.05 filings per 100,000 people, for the highest bankruptcy rates in the nation.
