HOUSTON COUNTY: Supervisors with the Houston County Sheriff’s office are finishing up a two day course on Crisis Intervention. The training is to help supervisor’s spot problems before they get worse and try to help the person out.
As a law enforcement officer you will see, hear and have to deal with very stressful incidents. Sometimes some of the incident s can get very hard to deal with both physically and emotionally. This course is to help teach deputies what to look for.
Sheriff Valenza stated that some years back he had an investigator that worked two bad cases back to back and both case took a toll on the deputy, to the point that the deputy took his own life.
If this course had been readily available back then the outcome might have been different.
