MOBILE – The Alabama Career Center is partnering with Huntington-Ingalls Shipbuilding to
recruit workers in the skilled marine industry. Huntingdon-Ingalls plans to hire 2,500 workers
over the next two years.
Applicants MUST participate in a pre-screening interview at a Career Center in order to be
considered for these positions. The deadline to request a pre-screening interview is July 7,
2015. Veterans will receive priority, and ex-offenders are also encouraged to apply.
“This is a great example of business and government working together to improve lives in
Alabama,” said Fitzgerald Washington, Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Labor.
“These are high paying, skilled jobs that will enhance Mobile’s economy. Even if someone may
feel they are not qualified for these jobs, I’d like to encourage them to visit the Career Center
and find out about training opportunities that are available to help them find a rewarding
career in the shipbuilding and repair field.”
Huntington-Ingalls is actively recruiting for the following positions: Structural Welders, Shipfitters, Inside/Outside Machinists, Pipefitters, 1st Class Electricians, Fire Marshal / Prevention, and Joiners.
Applicants will be required to submit to a drug screening and background check. Contact the
Career Center for more information regarding the application process. Interested applicants
