I-85 reopens after 1 killed, 2 injured in collision while changing tire

MONTGOMERY CO., AL (WSFA) -
Three people were hit by a vehicle Friday afternoon while trying to change a flat tire along Interstate 85 near the Montgomery/Macon county line, according to law enforcement.
One of the victims died on the scene. The other two were rushed to area hospitals in what Montgomery County Chief Deputy Kevin Murphy called critical condition. The victims have not been identified.
The collision happened in the southbound lanes near mile marker 18, which is between the Waugh and Shorter exits.
Officials said one vehicle pulled over to change a tire, and another vehicle stopped to help. A total of three vehicles were involved in the crash.
