Beginning Monday, April 27th visitors of Fort Rucker will have a 30 day grace period to obtain their visitor badges before the new visitor access policy goes into full effect.
"It's a very short process, it's the same process that takes place when a police officer pulls over someone. It's the same national database that they are quarrying and it's a very fast process." said Col. Stuart McRae, Garrison Commander, USAG Fort Rucker.
This is a Department of Defense initiative, the Directorate of Public Safety is streamlining the process for accessing Fort Rucker.
Those who do not have a DOD-issued I.D are subject to a background check in order to get a visitor access badge. Those who show a common access card (CAC), Military ID, Military Family Member ID, or other DOD-issued ID are not affected.
All personnel in a vehicle, who are 18 or older, will need a visitor badge, which requires a background check. Along with the visitor badge, all visitors must present a valid picture identification card.
An adult who is cleared to enter the installation must vouch for personnel under the age of 18 who who do not possess a valid picture ID.
