If You Have Ever Done This To A COP - SHAME

Recently a law enforcement officer related to me... he was in a business in line behind a parent and their child. When the child was acting up the parent told the child to stop or they would have the officer carry them to jail. The child then looks up at the officer and gets quiet and scared of the law enforcement officer.

SHAME ON YOU AS A PARENT

This practice maKes a child afraid of law enforcement. A child needs to grow up knowing that law enforcement officers are there to protect and serve. Jail is a last resort. The officers role is to do all possible before jail is an option.

As a parent, your referral to the officer and the image you are casting with the child towards law enforcement officers, is one the child will grow up with. And you do not want them to grow up in fear of seeing law enforcement officers.

THE OFFICER WANTED ME TO POIN THIS OUT

Several months ago a local law enforcement officer pointed this issue out to me. He said that he has wanted to carry the parent to jail for the comment.

The officer is dedicated to his profession. Currently the officer is a patrol officer with a local Sheriff Department. The officer has served as a patrol officer, vice officer and criminal investigator.

But the officer pointed out to me, he is embarrased at the reputation the parents give of law enforcement officers to the children. This particular deputy told me, he wants the child to know they can come to the officer in the time of need. Not be scared to come to the officer.

What if, the child ran away from someone who had abducted them? What if the child ran away from a pervert? Would they be afraid of the officer or run to them for protection?

Think about it!
