DOTHAN:   If you looked for your six figure paid Dothan Department Heads, they were at the bank located at West Main and Ross Clark Circle. The bank is Friend Bank.

The Dothan Department Heads were meeting with Lyle Sumak and were in a strategic planning session meeting. The deparetment heads about where they wanted to lead their departments to for the next year and how to get there. All they need is more of your money.

Dothan Police Chief Greg Benton and Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams were outside in the breezeway on break from the meeetings.

All department heads were present. However Dothan Municipal Court Judge Rose Evans Gordon was in court holding court. 

Over the weekend Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz and Dothan Commissioners will be on hand discussing their plans.

Lyle talks to them, has them write their ideas down, they discuss them. They write the ideas on paper and discuss ways to obtain their goals and objectives.

HERE IS ONE

A recent meeting I was involved in with someone from out of town that deals with government. He said Dothan's reputation across the state is, they have a CHIP on their shoulder. And if you have ever tried to deal with Dothan officials, it is obvious a lot of the leaders have chips on their shoulders. They know all and you know nothing. How dare you question us, we are the City of Dothan.

Some department heads in Dothan goverment need retirement or plain out terminations.  They need to realize that the little man create jobs and keeps those jobs. The larger corporations, while they bring many jobs, they move out and move on, where the locals remain. The locals are the back bone of the community.

QUESTION:

I hate to put Mayor Schmitz on the spot, but here goes. I realize people like Police Chief Greg Benton and Fire Chief Larry Williams make it plain, they do not work for the Mayor they work for the City Manager. Technically that is true. But the City Manager works at the pleasure of the Mayor and Commission.

But with the attitudes and the way the City of Dothan does business, would Mercedes of Dothan, Hyndaui of Dothan, Mazda of Dothan be successful if their attitude was the same?

I realize the Mayor has a tough time. However, he has three votes with him. So he can very plainly tell the City Manager, attitudes will change or City Managers will change. Real simple message.

Would Commissioner John Ferguson's business prosper if he oeprated his business with the same mindset as the City of Dothan leasdership?

If we can ever determine what Dorsey, Newsome, Kirkland and Baxley really do, I might could compare their jobs? So far, Dorsey and Newsome, no idea. Kirkland, a wrestler with a choke hold, and Baxley a lawyer who gets suits filed against him and bar complaints.

It seems that Schmitz and Ferguson are the only two with real bonafide jobs.

Commissioner Anderson is temporary. She manages a business, Eagle Eye Outfitters. And she knows what to do. But she is not there long enough to get a lot done.

But some in leadership, basement of Dothan Civic Center, Personnell Department. retirement packets are available and should be used by some of you, SOON...it might link you to a better future!!! And Dothan might link to a better and productive workforce in some areas of leadership, so called leadership...
