• To vote in person: Absentee Election Manager’s Office is located Room 405 of Houston County Courthouse and
open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. —4:30 p.m. Contact number is 334-671-
8700.
• To vote by mail: Applications may be obtained online at www.alabamavotes.gov or calling the office for one to
be mailed. Return applications to Absentee Election Manager, P.O. Drawer 6406, Dothan, AL 36302. Only 1
application may be received per envelope.
Applications and ballots may only be delivered by the actual voter in person or by U.S. Mail. No third-party
delivery of either the application or the ballot is allowed by law.
Ensure that the address on the application is the address of where you are registered to vote with the Board of
Registers.
All documents must be signed or "marked" by the actual voter. An individual holding a Power of Attorney may
not sign for the voter
• Reason for voting absentee is notated on the application.
Copy of photo ID is returned with the ballot in brown envelope that is provided in ballot packet.

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEBER
Thursday, November 3, 2016: This is the last day voters may apply for a regular absentee ballot for the November 8,
2016, Primary Election. Applications must be received in the Absentee Election Manager’s Office on this date. No
ballots can be mailed to voters after this date. Only one application per envelope accepted; must be returned by the
actual voter or by U.S. mail.
Monday, November 7, 2016: This is the last business day before the election and is the last day a voter can return in
person his or her regular absentee ballot. No one, not even a family member, can return another person’s ballot, except
a medical emergency ballot. This is the last day to vote business emergency ballots.
Tuesday, November 8, 2016: Mailed ballots must be received in the Absentee Election Manager’s Office no later than
noon this date. Emergency medical ballots must be received by noon on this date in the Absentee Election Manager’s
Office by the designee.
