HENRY COUNTY: This is funny if it did not concern the seriousness of what the Henry County Commission did to an 11 year employee.
On May 2, 2017 Jerry Green left the employment of Henry County as Custodian of the Henry County Courthouse. Green was told by Henry County Commission Chairman/Probate Judge that he was being "laid off". The courthouse custodian duties did not take two people full time.
Today, Friday May 5, 2017, the "one" custodian had to replace Jerry Green with THREE inmates from the Henry County Jail. That is the funny part. But it is serious because of the manner in which the Henry County Commission has treated an 11 year employee.
WHAT IS THE TRUTH?
Getting to the truth has been impossible in this situation. But I am going to attempt to piece it together.
1. Henry County Emergency Management Director/Personnel Director/Safety Director/Driver For The Probate Judge - Ronnie Dollar and Henry County Commission Chairman/Probate Judge David Money asked the members of the Henry County Commission to eliminate one of the two custodians for the Henry County Courthouse.
2. The Henry County Commissioners are mad at me because I placed the responsibility at their feet. Members of the Henry County Commissioners have said they followed the recommendations of Dollar and Money. They did not like it that I made it look like they just came in and made Dollar and Money lay off Jerry Green.
3. Dollar and Money have said the 5 Henry County Commissioners have fussed that the two custodians are always just standing at the drink machines when they come to the courthouse for the meetings. That is one day a month the 5 commissioners come for a meeting - of which they draw $ 19,000.00 per year for.
But the 5 Henry County Commissioners claim it was Dollar and Money who asked them to eliminate the one position.
4. And we are told the Commissioners did not know which of the two had the less seniority when they voted. But when they have caught trouble over laying Green off it has been eluded to the fact that they and previous commissions had problems with Green. I personally spoke with two former Henry County Commissioners who denied that.
The Problem Is...
Dollar and Money can want. They can want Dollar to get a Tahoe to haul Chairman/Probate Judge David Money around on.
But if the 5 Henry County Commissioners do not make a motion, second the motion, and at least three vote for it, then Dollar will have to continue in his older truck to haul Chairman/Probate Judge David Money around in the old truck.
Dollar and Money have zero authority to act without one of the 5 Henry County Commissioners making a motion, one of the 5 Henry County Commissioners seconding the motion, and at least three of the five voting in favor of the motion.
The Chairman/Probate Judge can not make a motion and can only vote in the event of a tie vote.
So ultimately, even though the 5 Henry County Commissioners do not like me pointing it out, Jerry Green being layed off is 100% and totally the fault/responsibility of the 5 Henry County Commissioners.
But Ronnie Dollar, David Money, Benton Beasley, John Ralph Sanders, Jay Calhoun, Henry Grimsley and Greg Reynolds have not been truthful and honest with the public and with Jerry Green.
Each of you can get mad at me all that you want, and David you can call who you want and complain about me... but...someone has not been truthful and honest...
Either Dollar and Money have not told the 5 Henry County Commissioners the truth when they got them to vote, or,
some of the Commissioners have not told the truth, that the commissioners have been the ones complaining and wanted one of the custodians gone, claiming it only takes one when to do all the work.
But they have to get three jail inmates to work in the place of Jerry Green.
By the way, Ronnie Dollar and David Money, nor has the 5 members of the Henry County Commission ever given the two custodians a job description of their duties.
WHAT I CAN SAY... the Henry County Courthouse, the bathrooms and the lawn, along with the sidewalks and parking areas, have always been very clean and more than acceptable every time I have been to the courthouse.
Each of the custodians and the man working with DSI at the door are always friendly and smiling to the citizens who enter and exit the Henry County Courthouse and more than willing to help anyone who comes in and out.
And Jerry Green has always been respectful, and the courthouse has always been clean.
Ronnie Dollar, David Money, Benton Beasley, John Ralph Sanders, Jay Calhoun, Henry Grimsley and Greg Reynolds... time for someone to be truthful.
You have taken a man's job and income for no legal and truthful reason. You are respectful men and you would be angry if you were treated in the manner "you" treated Jerry Green.
