UPDATED at 2:51 PM - Inmate Escapes from Draper Correctional Facility in Elmore County

According to (WSFA) The Alabama Department of Corrections is searching for an inmate who escaped from Draper Correctional Facility in Elmore Monday morning. Investigators say inmate Roberto Talabera, 37, managed to get out of the facility around 10:05 a.m.


Talabera was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2008 after being convicted for four armed robberies of convenience stores in 2007 out of Madison County.


The escapee is is 5’2" tall and weighs 120 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes and was last wearing Inmate State Whites (shirts and pants).


Citizens who see him are asked to call the Alabama Dept. of Corrections at 1-800-831-8825. Do not approach Talabera. He should be considered dangerous.
