Inmate Fatally Stabbed at Correctional Facility in Bessemer

According to (WBRC) An inmate was stabbed to death at the William E. Donaldson correctional facility in Bessemer on Saturday, according to the Department of Corrections.


Marreo Mitchell, 35, lost his life after he was stabbed during an altercation with two other inmates. Investigators say the altercation began at 4:25 p.m and Mitchell died at 4:53 p.m.


Mitchell was serving a 20-year-sentenceafter being convicted for distribution of a controlled substance in 2010 in Montgomery County.


The DOC is working to determine the cause of the altercation.
