Think you make a mean burger? Does everyone rave about your grilling skills? Then, consider entering the "Tuffy Battle of the Burgers" Friday April 8 at the Tri-State BBQ Festival. Out local winner gets $250 and advances to the World Food Championships where they can win $10,000 there.

Competition fee is $25 to enter the Tuffy Battle of the Burgers and you may enter only once. (Husbands and wives or other family members may enter separately though.) You provide your own meat, garnish, toppings and method of cooking. All burgers must be cooked on site, at the Houston County Farm Center, Friday April 8, 2016. Space will be given to cookers not on BBQ competition teams (please let us know your space requirements), and two admission passes per entry will be provided for the festival . Turn in time for the burger is 7:00 p.m.  on Friday April 8, with awards being presented at 5:35 on Saturday April 9.

There will be one winner, selected by the panel of professional judges. This winner will receive $250 cash and be eligible to compete in the 2016 World Food Championships Burger Finals in Orange Beach, Alabama. The WFC’s are a televised cooking competition that offers $350,000.00 in prize money to the category winners. The $250 cash you receive from the Tri-State BBQ Festival can be used to help with expenses and entry to the World Food Championships, but travel, lodging and other expenses are the responsibility of the winner.

Scoring is based on the EAT system: Execution, Appearance and Taste. Five (5) samples (bite sized or bigger) for judges are to be turned in as well as one whole burger for photographs. See the example given to us for the chili competition, to understand one “presentation” plate and 5 smaller samples. This competition is open to everyone over the age of 18, including restaurant owners, professional chefs and backyard enthusiasts.
