On the morning of March 17th 2015 the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a series of vehicle burglaries in Malone. The K-9 tracking team from Jackson Correctional Institution was summoned to the scene to assist in locating and identifying the individuals responsible.

When an alert member of the community observed Law Enforcement and the K-9 teams working the area, he made contact with them. The individual remembered seeing two young males in the neighborhood the night before, acting suspiciously.

The witness directed Law Enforcement to a home where at least one of the males was believed to be a resident. The homeowner cooperated with the Sheriff’s Department by allowing them to search the residence.

During that search, stolen items from the vehicle burglaries were discovered. One of the suspects, Nicholas Lemaster, was located nearby and taken into custody.

In a post-miranda interview, Lemaster initially admitted to breaking into five vehicles and stealing various items. At that time, a second suspect, a 16 year-old male from Marianna, was identified as an active participant in the burglaries. The juvenile was also found to be on probation.

The Sheriff’s Office made contact and worked closely with the Marianna Police Department to locate the juvenile and take him into custody.

In the process, Benjamin Robert Temple was located and arrested on an outstanding warrant for Violation of Conditional Release. During a consensual search of Temple’s vehicle, a stolen Glock .40 caliber handgun from one of the Marianna vehicle burglaries was found hidden in the door panel.

Subsequently, a fourth individual, Jonathan David Henderson, was developed as a suspect and arrested in Marianna. Henderson also had outstanding warrants for Failure to Appear for Burglary and Theft.

As a result of interviews that followed it was determined that between the Lemaster, Henderson, and the juvenile, the trio had committed at least 11 burglaries in the county and 7 in the City. Stolen items are still being tracked down and recovered to assist the victims.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges are forthcoming.

Lemaster, Henderson, and the juvenile were charged with burglary and theft. Lemaster and Henderson were placed in the Jackson County Correctional Facility and the juvenile was placed in Detention in Bay County.

Additional charges are being filed by the Marianna Police Department as well as the Sheriff’s Office as evidence is collected.

Thanks to the Marianna Police Department and the Jackson Correctional Institution K-9 Tracking Team for their cooperation and assistance.
