It has been reported to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office a scam victimizing local citizens.

 

Citizens are approached by a scammer stating they can pay their electric bill via the internet. The citizen gives the scammer their payment for the electric bill and their social security number. The scammer then appears to be paying the bill on the computer and tells the citizen the bill has been paid.

 

Later the citizen discovers the bill has not been paid. If anyone approaches you with this scenario please contact you local law enforcement agency.
