On Sunday June 10, 2012 at approximately 5:48 P.M. patrol deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department performed a traffic stop on a black Dodge truck on Hwy 71S just south of I-10. The truck was stopped for a seat belt violation by one of the passengers.
During the traffic stop, K-9 “Toby” did alert on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics, giving the deputies probable cause to search the vehicle. A search of the vehicle did reveal suspected finished methamphetamine, pseudoephedrine pills, muriatic acid, coffee filters, lithium batteries and numerous hypodermic needles. These items were found inside the purse of W/F Aurora Deotono Cutchins.
Another purse belonging to W/F Angela V. Howard was also searched and did reveal a bottle of prescription ibuprofen that did not belong to her.
Both females were arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail without incident.
