On today’s date, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Security Officials at Sunland. They advised that an individual had spoken with staff at the front gate and he seemed very agitated and upset, which was very alarming to them. The gate staff notified security once he was on the grounds, whereupon he was approached by Sunland Security and officers with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. During a subsequent investigation by Law Enforcement Officers, it was determined that he was there to confront an employee concerning issues that a family member of his was having with that employee. While speaking with the individual, officers observed a box of ammunition (bullets) in plain view in the front seat area of the subject’s vehicle. The bullets are considered to be contraband by Florida Statute, and the introduction of such into a mental health facility, is illegal.
The subject, identified as Ricardo Leon Sanders, was taken into custody and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
Arrested: Ricardo Leon Sanders
22yoa
4204 Vallie Road Marianna, Florida
Charges: Introduction of Contraband into a Mental Health Facility
