In the early morning hours of 6-13-12, deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a robbery at the America’s Best Value Inn located on State Road 71 South Marianna, Florida. While deputies were responding, another report of a robbery was received at the Day’s Inn, located a short distance away. Evidence recovered at the scene of both robberies indicated that the robberies were possibly committed by the same person. During the course of the investigation, investigators developed a person of interest and determined that there was probable cause to believe that subject had committed not only the two robberies on 6-13-12 but also had committed the robbery that occurred on 6-2-12 at the American Inn and Suites, located in the same vicinity. On 6-15-12, investigators served arrest warrants on Cortney C. Barkley for the charges of armed robbery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment and violation of state probation (robbery), and transported him to theJackson County Correctional Facility.
