Jackson County Sheriff's Office Arrest Two People on Multiple Drug Charges

On July 20, 2016, a Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy observed a gold Ford truck, traveling north on Basswood Road with inoperable equipment.

The deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Shelby Lee Britt, and passenger, Kristen Lee Ann Norris. A few moments after making contact, a Jackson County Sheriff's Office K9 Deputy arrived and deployed K9 Max to perform a “Free Air Sniff” around the exterior of the vehicle. K9 Max alerted to the odor of narcotics emanating from the interior of the truck.

A probable cause search was conducted and revealed the following items located inside
the passenger compartment, 7.92 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy), over 20 grams of Marijuana, 57.88 grams of concentrated Marijuana extract (Wax), 2mg tablets of Alprazolam (Xanax), 5mg tablets of Hydrocodone (Lortab 5), 10mg tablets of Hydrocodone (Lortab 10), a $20.00 bill rolled into a straw shape with narcotics residue, a glass pipe with narcotics residue, 1 black digital scale with residue, marijuana “grinders” with residue, and 1 vapor “e-cig” with narcotics residue.

The marijuana, MDMA, and marijuana extract were field tested with a positive result. Britt waived his rights and stated that he had a “drug problem”. He admitted to possessing the substances and medications, without a prescription for them.

Norris was found in possession of less than 20 grams of Marijuana and a marijuana grinder with residue. Britt and Norris were subsequently placed under arrest and
transported to JCCF to await first appearance.
