John Calvin Turner Arrested When Court Ended For Day

HOUSTON COUNTY:    In Houston County Circuit Court a trial is under way before Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Michael Conaway. The case is an appeal that resulted in the arrest of John Calvin Turner.

Dothan Police responded to a call where there was a 911 hangup. When the police arrived a confrontation took place between police and Turner.

The officer ordered Turner to the ground because he was hot headed towards police. Turner refused the commands of Dothan Police. The officer used his tazer weapon and it did not affect Turner.

As Turner walked down the hall he and Turner got into a confrontation. Other officers responded and Turner was arrested for Assault and Resisting Arrest. He was booked into the Dothan City Jail.

Turner was convicted in Dothan Municipal Court. The case was appealed to a Houston County Jury and the trial started today.l

Turner filed an action in Federal Court against Dothan Police and several officers.

As court adjourned for the day Houston County Sheriff Deputies took Turner into custody on outstanding arrest warrants for non support. The warrant has been pending since December. Turner knew about the warrant but had been avoiding taking care of the warrant. Turner was arrested following court and transported to the Houston County Jail where he has a $ 1,000.00 cash only bond.

Turner recently was arrested by Ozark Police Department on a domestic violence warrant.

Turner filed bankruptcy claiming he lost $ 50,000.00 in gambling in two years. He is a frequent attendee of gambling establishments still to this day.

The trial is scheduled to resume in the morning.
