The City has received complete summary judgment in the case of RaeMonica Carney v. City of Dothan, Case No. 1:14-cv-392-WKW filed in the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Alabama. The Order entered today by Chief Judge William Keith Watkins ruled in favor of the City on all four counts of Carney’s Complaint, in which she alleged employment discrimination, violation of a consent decree, deprivation of First Amendment Rights, and retaliatory hostile work environment. The City is pleased with the Court's ruling finding no discrimination or retaliation in the Dothan Police Department. The City hopes that all Dothan citizens will accept this decision from a respected Federal Judge, who thoroughly reviewed and analyzed the City’s policies and practices in arriving at his conclusions.
