Judge William L. Wright would like to announce his retirement as a Circuit Judge in the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit of Florida.  Judge Wright has served as Circuit Judge since January of 1997.  Prior to taking the bench, he served as an Assistant State Attorney in Panama City from 1979-1983 and Chief Assistant State Attorney in Marianna from 1983-1996.


Although Judge Wright’s wife Tina had a health scare 3 years ago, both he and Tina are healthy and looking forward to retirement.  “Thirty-seven years in the court system is a long time and I am ready for a break,” Judge Wright said.  “I have a 6 month old granddaughter and I am excited to spend more time with her.”


Judge Wright appreciates all the support he has received through the years.  “I could not have been elected without the help of many friends, relatives and supporters.  I could not have done my job without the great assistance from my Judicial Assistant Debbie Burch, Court Administration staff member Amber Baggett, and all of the court staff in Jackson County.  I am a very lucky man.”


Judge Wright intends to remain in Marianna and enjoy retirement.  “It has been an honor to serve the citizens of Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, and Washington counties and to work with all the attorneys and their staff in our circuit.”
