OZARK: On Thursday I had the distinct pleasure of representing Senator Harri Anne Smith
at Mixon Elementary School for the bus tour of the Statue of Liberty.
The program was where the Statue of Liberty comes to life and provides students with an overview of what they can learn from the Liberty Learning Foundation.
The Liberty Learning Foundation is a non-profit organization donating civic based teaching tools to educators and facilitating learning experience that teach, inspire and empower our next Great Americans.
While all subjects are important, the foundation works to teach children that there are more important titles than just engineer, scientist, even president, and that title is CITIZEN.
The Liberty Learning Center puts on exciting performances as they did this past Thursday. They work to train teachers, get the community involved, and they create and carry out grand learning experiences that teach, inspire, and empower our Next Generation Americans.
Thursday's program was where Lady Liberty was on hand and interacted with the children. Taught the children about the Statue of Liberty and facts they have perhaps never heard of about the Statue. Lady Liberty was exciting to listen to and made you want to learn more.
Also the Super Citizen Program was introduced and kicked off. The City of Ozark School system was excited about the program as was the children that participated.
The Super Citizen program is a "all hands on the deck" program created with excitement.
I was honored to be asked by Alabama State Senator Harri Anne Smith to represent her at this program. Senator Smith was out of town. She provided sponsorship money for this program in an effort to teach children the importance of a being a citizen, being involved in civics and government, and through their being a citizen that is active how great our nation can be.
Tami Culver is the Director of the Program. Based out of Huntsville , Tami travels this state working with communities to bring the bus tour to communities and schools to enable them to teach the students the importance of being a great citizen.
I enjoyed being on hand at Mixon Elementary School and being a part of seeing the great program and learning opportunity.
