Licensed Professional Counselor Joins AltaCare staff

DOTHAN, Ala. - Southeast Alabama Medical Center (SAMC) is pleased to welcome Mary F. Lockwood, licensed professional counselor (LPC), to the AltaCare Outpatient Psychiatry and Counseling program.
Lockwood brings 10 years of professional experience in a variety of mental health settings to AltaCare. She most recently worked as the facilitator for an Intensive outpatient chemical dependency program and as an outpatient therapist with a local psychiatric practice.
She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Troy University in Dothan in 2002 and Master’s Degree in Psychology and Community Counseling from Troy University in Dothan in 2005. She is state licensed by the Board of Examiners in Counseling.
She has also worked locally as a rehabilitative therapist and substance abuse therapist, as well as served as lead therapist treating adolescent female teens at a local residential and inpatient psychiatric hospital.
Lockwood treats adults, adolescents, families and couples suffering with anxiety, depression and addictions. She has a unique understanding of how addictions and mental illness influence the dynamic make-up of family members. Ms. Lockwood provides a confidential, motivating, supportive, safe and validating environment for patients to begin making life-changing decisions and behaviors.
