If you are really listening to people and their concerns, one of the biggest ones is whenever it hits our pockets. Voting yourself a pay raise is one of those concerns when you are representing the public. And then, we the people, have to cover your pay raise. 

LIE: On Monday the 27th, people started getting another muddy postcard in the mail and while there are so many things on it that are LIES the one that hit me in my pocket was that Harri Anne voted herself a pay raise. Now this goes all the way back to 2007. It was brought out in the last campaign and was easily proved that her opponent was lying at that time as well. It is no surprise that they dropped to the bottom of the crap bowl and pulled this out again. IT IS A LIE! SHE DID NOT VOTE TO INCREASE HER SALARY. 

FACT: The Alabama Legislature voted themselves a pay increase in 2007. Legislators also voted an automatic pay increase each year tied to the federal Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA). Harri Anne voted against it and even went on record opposing it and even went as far as to opt out of the automatic increases. 

In 2010, she supported Sen. Gerald Dial, R-Lineville, and his plan to introduce a bill to rescind the legislative pay raise that had been passed. She along with Rep. Steve Clouse, R-Ozark, Sen. Jimmy Holley, R-Elba were in favoring of rescinding the bill. Our newly elected Rep. Paul Lee, R-Dothan, stated that he ran for what the salary was at the time he ran for the office and he was not in favor of rescinding it. 

CONCLUSION: Melinda McClendon said Harri Anne voted herself a pay raise. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE! In truth Harri Anne voted AGAINST the pay raise and was in favor of rescinding it.
