“Mmmmerrrrry Christmas, Ho, Ho, Ho!!!” That’s right, it’s the jolly man himself.
Santa and Mrs. Claus are on their way to Ashford for the annual Christmas Parade this Saturday, Dec 6 at 10 a.m. The City Christmas tree is decorated and lit. Elves have been busy decorating the town and Historic Train Depot in preparation for their arrival.
This year will be very special, as the City’s largest parade group ever will usher in Christmas festivities. Military veterans will be honored as the Ft. Rucker Marching Band and members of Dothan High School JROTC lead. Local and area businesses, representatives from surrounding towns, church groups, school groups, entertainment groups, civic groups, state and local government leaders all coming to Ashford to celebrate the Christmas season.
Join us after the parade for “Christmas at the Depot”… Santa and Mrs. Claus contacted many elves so all the children can enjoy activities like a puppet show, face-painting, cake walks, cookie decorating, and Christmas bingo. The Ashford Elementary Choir has practiced Christmas carols that they will sing after the parade. Following the children’s performance, the Ashford All Male Choir will sing, as they did last year.
Inside the Depot, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be waiting to greet each child and hear the all-important whispered Christmas wishes.
Also inside the Depot, the Heritage Foundation will hold a bake sale, as well as have the annual 2014 and 2015 City Christmas ornaments for sale.
From Ashford, “We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”
