Long Time Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes Says Good Bye

HOUSTON COUNTY: This afternoon at the Houston County Court House surrounded by family and friends in a standing room only gathering long time Sheriff Andy Hughes says Good Bye. As you recall a couple of weeks ago Sheriff Andy Hughes resigned as sheriff of Houston County to accept another job with the State of Alabama. Today was an emotional day for Andy Hughes as he said Good Bye to everyone in attendance.


Sheriff Hughes will serve his last day as sheriff this week and the new Sheriff Donald Valenza will be sworn in on Thursday. Sheriff Hughes talked about his term as Sheriff and stated how proud he was of the department while serving as Sheriff of Houston County.  He also spoke about how far the Sheriff's Office had come in the last eight years.
