A Louisiana man has been charged with video voyeurism after female tourists staying at an
Okaloosa Island hotel say they spotted him outside their hotel room filming them through the
curtains.
The four women from Tennessee say it happened around 8:45 p.m. June 18th at a hotel on Santa Rosa Boulevard. They spotted a blonde male using a cell phone to take pictures or video through a slit in the curtains. One of the women recognized him as a man staying in a room next door.
Deputies from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office responded and made contact with the
individual, who admitted taking pictures of the females. He also said he’d been taking photos of people without their knowledge for the past two months.
The man was identified as 23-year old James Allan Austin of Shreveport Louisiana.
Austin says he had erased the photos from his phone. Deputies confiscated his phone, laptop, and memory sticks found with his computer equipment.
Austin was arrested on a charge of video voyeurism however the investigation remains open.
