Since September, 2013, Lucky Dog Sports Club of the Wiregrass has been providing training, guidance, support and help at every level to the community of people who want to do more with their dogs. For you readers, who are reading about us for the first time, we introduce ourselves.
Lucky Dog Sports Club of the wiregrass is a volunteer organization with its main focus on teaching handlers to train their puppies and dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds. Our classes are comfortably sized and informal. Using positive reinforcement techniques, we build confidence in the dog as well as the handler.
In short, Lucky Dog Sports Club is committed to providing a training experience designed to last a lifetime. Lucky Dog Sports Club continues to offer Beginner, Intermediate and Novice Obedience classes; Rally Obedience; AKC Star Puppy; Control Unleashed Class — a class that helps timid, frightened or distracted/reactive dogs to focus and build confidence); Tricks Classes; Manners -- a class for owners who just want a well behaved dog, Outdoor Adventure -- a field-trip class designed to enable owners to handle their dogsin real life, everyday situations.
This class helps prepare the dog for the AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluation which is part of the graduation requirements. This summer we are introducing a new class, "Sports 101." This class is designed to be a confidence building, relaxed.class where we do a lot of different things: agiity jumps, tunnels, weave poles, etc. The class involves playing games, having relays and doing some Rally. It will give people a lot of different things to do with their dogs and be a brief introduction to dog sports.
THIS YEAR, Lucky Dog is proud to celebrate our 3rd year of bringing Ultimate Air Dogs to Dothan! Yes, by popular demand, they're coming back., This year they'll be here for THREE days. The dates are September 23-25, 2016, at PorktoberQue at the Farm Center. If you've seen Ultimate Air Dogs in the past, come see them again. It's never the same show twice. And if you think your dog would like toparticipate, sign him/her up at the event.
If you have never seen dogs fly, you need to see this event-and become a believer! It's going to be the
best weekend ever for a bunch of "lucky dogs!"
