Macon Co. Jailer Arrested in Early Morning Raid

MACON CO., AL (WSFA) - More than 25 local and state agents held a raid early Wednesday morning that resulted in the arrest of Macon County jailer Nancy Maness. More arrests are expected.
The jailer was taken away by State Bureau of Investigation agents around 4:30 a.m. and charged with bringing contraband inside the jail to give to inmates. Maness faces more charges, investigators confirmed, though the exact charges have not been stated.
The contraband included things such as cell phones and drugs, authorities said.
In addition to the jailer's arrest, authorities say 15 inmates are involved. Exact charges against them are also unknown at this point.
It wasn't immediately known specifically where Maness is being held, but it is known she is not being held at the Macon County Jail.
