DALE - HOUSTON - JACKSON COUNTY:    At about 10:51 PM Newton Police went to stop a vehicle. When the Newton Officer activated the blue lights, the person in front of the blue lights put the pedal to the metal!

Then it was on!  Newton Police was in pursuit of a white SUV with Florida license plates.

The chase came into Houston County and Dothan City Limits on Highway 231 North hitting Ross Clark Circle. The vehicle went south on Ross Clark Circle and traveled all the way around Ross Clark Circle, TWICE.

Dothan Police, Houston County Sheriff Deputies joined the chase. As the suspect traveled all the way around Ross Clark Circle, near Denton Road and Ross Clark Circle, officers attempted to deploy spike strips. The suspect attempted to strike the officer which was attempting to deploy spike strips.

The chase reached speeds of 115 MPH. The chase crossed 231 North and Ross Clark Circle. At times during the chase the suspect was traveling on the wrong side of the road.

The suspect, on the second lap of Ross Clark Circle, when the suspect hit 231 South and Ross Clark, the suspect turned south.

Communications notified Jackson County Sheriff Deputies which reported they were prepared to deploy spike strips on Highway 231 South and Highway 2, which is the red light in Campbellton Florida.

Dothan Police Supervisor instructed Dothan Police to terminate the chase when the suspect hit Highway 231 South, direting that Houston County Sheriff Deputies would continue the chase.

The suspect traveling south on Highway 231, reaching speeds again of 115 MPH. As the vehicle was reaching Highway 231 South and the Alabama - Florida line, Houston County Sheriff Supervisor instructed Sheriff Units to terminate the chase at the state line.

And they did!

Jackson County Sheriff Department, which I could not monitor, reported the suspect hit a field at speeds of 80 MPH. The suspect was last reported north bound on Rambo Mill Pond back towards Houston County.

Dale County Sheriff Air Unit had gotten airborn but cancelled when chase was terminated.

At around 11:21 PM the chase was terminated.

It is unkown why the suspect fled and he or she got away.
