Man and Woman Charged with Burglary and Grand Theft

On 12/13/12 deputies responded to 2730 Hwy 231 Cottondale, Fl., in reference to the theft of several meter boxes that had been stored in a shed behind the victim’s house. It is believed that the meter boxes were taken during the three week period. On 12/21/12 deputies responded to 2730 Hwy 231, after a neighbor advised they had seen a truck and trailer leaving the victim’s residence during the early morning hours. Upon deputies’ arrival at the residence, it was discovered that the remainder of the meter boxes had been taken as well as the victim’s residential air conditioning unit.

On 12/21/12 investigators responded to 3013 Buttercup Lane, Cottondale, Fl., the residence of Mary Jones, and Harold Donaldson. Investigators found Ms. Jones in the back yard stripping an air conditioning unit in the yard. Located in the driveway 3013 Buttercup Lane, was a trailer containing several meter boxes, which was later discovered to be the ones that had been taken from 2730 Hwy 231. While investigators were on scene, Mr. Donaldson returned to his residence where he was placed under arrest. The subsequent interviews led to the confession of the burglary at 2730 Hwy 231, along with numerous other burglaries within the county. Among the numerous items that were recovered at 3013 Buttercup was a washing machine, refrigerator, several house hold items, air conditioning units; generators, a pressure washer and meter boxes.

Harold Donaldson and Mary Jones are both charged with burglary and grand theft, with other charges to follow. The investigation is continuing.
